Barak Hill at Olive Street, Oct 7

Do you have to like the ones you love?

That’s just one of many of life’s questions singer-songwriter Barak Hill will contemplate in song when he performs Oct 7 at Olive Street Presents. Hill is a Springfield, MO, singer-songwriter and a force in the southwest Missouri music community.

He was the 2012 winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s 2012 Santa Cruz Guitar Song Contest. He was named one of the top solo musicians in Southwest Missouri in a 417 Magazine readers’ poll. Barak tours regularly and has shared the stage with many artists — from popular regional bands to national artists like Jay Farrar (Son Volt) and Amanda Shires (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit).

It’s heartbroken Americana hanging on to a fistful of hope that things might get better. Honest, well-crafted lyrics set to strong melodies connect with people on an intimate, personal level. You need to hear it.
